Minutes for the regular National Finance Committee meeting November 16,<br />

Meeting convened at 9:46 PM (ET) a quorum being present, the Chair and the<br />
Secretary being present.<br />

WBAI FY11 budget review<br />
<br />
The WBAI draft FY11 budget was presented to the committee. The budget<br />
calls for an income of about $2.3 million, last year it was about $2.2<br />
million. There were bad days in the recent on-air fund raiser, the interim<br />
General Manager hopes to recoup the difference with seven days of pitching<br />
in December. The interim General Manager is projecting a 73.9% fulfillment<br />
rate. A project called "WBAI Buddies" is also planned to add extra money to<br />
WBAI through regular electronic funds transfers. A recent community event<br />
had 600 attendees, and more community events are planned. Major donors are<br />
also being worked on. There were problems for the past four years due to a<br />
loss on confidence by listeners because they were not sent their premiums.<br />
WBAI is proposing to pay a levy of about 5% for central services. Also 0.6<br />
FTE was added for vacation replacements.<br />

The committee discussed the budget. Risks and opportunities were<br />
discussed. The committee asked for a list of consultants at WBAI. It was<br />
noted that the WBAI LSB has to hire security guards for some meetings and<br />
that makes board expenses higher. There was concern voiced over WBAI only<br />
paying a 5% levy.<br />
