KPFK Local Station Board Governance Committee

Draft Meeting Minutes of July 14, 2014

The regular, monthly meeting of the KPFK LSB Governance Committee was held on
Monday, July 14, 2014, 7:49 PM at the Aris and Carolyn Anagnos Peace
Center, 3916 Sepulveda Blvd., Culver City, CA 90230. John Wenger served as
Chair. John P. Garry III served as Acting Secretary.

Seven members were present, constituting a quorum: Lydia Brazon, Bella De Soto,
Israel Feuer, John P. Garry III, Michael Novick, Lawrence Reyes, John Wenger.

Two members were excused: Tej Grewall, Brenda Medina.

One member was absent: Nancy Wheeler.

Authority and Notice: The time and location of this meeting was established
based on past practice of the Governance Committee and was publicly noticed at
the June 18, 2014 LSB Meeting. The meeting date was posted on KPFTX.org on June
15, 2014. Additional postings were made on June 21, 2014 (see Appendix).
Automatic e-mail reminders from kpfkgovlist@kpftx.org and pnb@kpftx.org were
sent to Committee members on July 7, July 12, and the day of the meeting.

EXCUSED ABSENCE REQUESTS (7:51)

Brazon moved to accept the excused absence requests of Grewall and Medina.
Motion passed by a show of hands: Yes-6, No-1, Abstain-0.

The Chair wanted the record to show that Grewall did not follow the excused
absence procedure (to send an email to the entire Committee).

EXCUSED ABSENCE POLICY (8:06)

Discussion. Wenger proposed a Leave of Absence standard. The Chair charged the
Secretary to research previous LSB attendance motions. Duly noted by the
Secretary.




ARGUETA RECALL ISSUE (8:47)

Feuer introduced the issue of the Argueta recall petition. Discussion followed.
No action taken.

PROPOSED LSB AGENDA (9:04)

The Proposed 7-19-2014 LSB Agenda was amended by unanimous consent suggestions
and approved without objection.

Meeting adjourned without objection at 9:30 PM.

The KPFK Local Station Board's Governance Committee will meet on Monday, July
14, 2014 at 7:30 pm at the Aris and Carolyn Anagnos Peace Center, 3916
Sepulveda Blvd., Culver City, CA 90230, in the Don White meeting room (Rms 101-
102, intercom code 22). The Committee will draft a Proposed Agenda for the
upcoming LSB meeting, discuss station
governance issues, and draft motions to be moved at the LSB meeting. The
meeting is open to the public and all are welcome. There is free parking behind
the building.
